WE NEED:
- Kathirikai/ Eggplant(cut length wise)- 2 no.
- Murungakai/ Drumsticks(cut 2 inch length)- 1no
- Onions(chopped)- 1/2 cup
- Tomatoes(chopped)- 1/4 cup
- Garlic(chopped)- 2 pods
- Water- 1/2 cup
- Red chili powder- 1 Tbsp
- Coriander powder- 1 Tbsp
- Oil- 1 Tbsp
- Cumin- 1 tsp
- Mustard- 1 tsp
- Hing- 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste.
PROCEDURE:
- Take murungakai, onions, tomatoes, garlic, red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric and salt in water, mix well together, close the lid and cook for 10 minutes.
- Add in kathirikai mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
- In a wide hot pan, add in oil, mustard, cumin and hing, once the mustard splutters add in the boiled kathirikai and murungakkai gravy and cook until the remaining water is all absorbed.
Spicy and hot kathirikai murungakai poriyal is must try, serve it with paruppu sadham or bisi bele bath or even with rasam rice it tastes amazing.
