Paruppu Sadham | Easy One pot Meal Rice with Lentils

 

WE NEED:

  • Moong dal/ Siri paruppu/ Pesala pappu- 1/2 Cup
  • Rice- 1/2 Cup
  • Water- 3 Cups
  • Onions(chopped)- 1/2 cup
  • Tomatoes(chopped)- 1/4 Cup
  • Garlic- 2 pods
  • Green chili- 1 no
  • Red chili- 2 no
  • Turmeric- 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
To Temper-
  • Oil- 1Tbsp
  • Mustard- 1 tsp
  • Cumin- 1 tsp
  • Hing- 1 tsp
  • Vadagam(optional)- 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves- handful.

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash and soak moong dal and rice for 20 min.
  • In pressure cooker add in rice, moong dal, water, onions, tomatoes, green chili, garlic, turmeric and hing, mix well and pressure cook it for 4 whistles.
  • Once the pressure releases, temper the mustard, cumin, hing, vadagam, red chilies and curry leaves in hot oil and pour it on rice.

  • Add in salt, mix well and serve.
Simple yet delicious paruppu sadham is ready.
