WE NEED:
- Moong dal/ Siri paruppu/ Pesala pappu- 1/2 Cup
- Rice- 1/2 Cup
- Water- 3 Cups
- Onions(chopped)- 1/2 cup
- Tomatoes(chopped)- 1/4 Cup
- Garlic- 2 pods
- Green chili- 1 no
- Red chili- 2 no
- Turmeric- 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
To Temper-
- Oil- 1Tbsp
- Mustard- 1 tsp
- Cumin- 1 tsp
- Hing- 1 tsp
- Vadagam(optional)- 1 tsp
- Curry leaves- handful.
PROCEDURE:
- Wash and soak moong dal and rice for 20 min.
- In pressure cooker add in rice, moong dal, water, onions, tomatoes, green chili, garlic, turmeric and hing, mix well and pressure cook it for 4 whistles.
- Once the pressure releases, temper the mustard, cumin, hing, vadagam, red chilies and curry leaves in hot oil and pour it on rice.
Simple yet delicious paruppu sadham is ready.
