1. Soak chana dal for 1 hour and soak tamarind in lukewarm water for 15 to 20 min.
2. Grind soaked chana dal with ginger, sompu, green chillies and salt.
2. Smash the garlic, chop the onions add it to the ground vada batter.
3. Take oil in a pan, make vadas by taking little batter, make it a ball, press the batter in between the two hands (like clapping hands). Leave it slowly in hot oil, take it out once it turns maroon color.
5. Now extract tamaind juice from soaked tamarind by adding water. This juice should be very think, like water consistency.
6. Add in turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt to the tamarind juice.
7. Take a pan add oil, temper with fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and urad dal.
8. Add in the chopped onions, tomatoes, curry leaves and corriander leaves to the pan, stir well until the tomatoes becomes mushy.
9. Add in the tamarind juice to the pan, once the tamarind juice starts to boil, add in the vadas to the pulusu. Let the curry boils well. Switch off the flame.
10. Vada will absorb the tamarind juice and makes it thick. If it becomes too thick add in the hot water (1/2 cup).
11. Enjoy the super delicious vada kulambu/vada pulusu with hot rice.
