- Soak Toor dal for 1 to 2 hrs.
 - Separate leaves from stems, chop Onions,
 
Procedure:
- Heat water in a pan cook the toor dal, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, asafoetida and garlic cloves(3 to 4) until the toor dal becomes widen, separated but not mushy.
 - Add chopped onions mix well, cook until the onions becomes transparent then add drumstick leaves and salt. Mix well until the leaves becomes half of its original size.
 - Switch off the stove. Then temper it with mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, channa dal and red chillies(2).
 
Note;
- Don't over cook the leaves(don't let the leaves change color from green to black) because it becomes bitter.
 - If u want pressure cook the toor dal for 2 whistles. Make sure that the toor dal should't become mushy.
 - If you want you can add green chillies for spiciness at the beginning while cooking toor dal.
