I am a mom, a wife, daughter and daughter in law, an elder sister of 5 siblings. My kids and my husband loves what I cook for them. Cooking is my passion.

On the actual diwali day, we have kedhara gowri viratham(nombu/nomu), we won't eat any thing from morning until the pooja is done(evening). That day, we take head bath in the morning, then will start cooking, The menu for diwali day is: Beans stir fry , Urlakazzhangu fry(urlagadda fry/potato stir fry)/vazhakai fry(Aratikaya fry/raw banana stir fry), Mango Pachadi, Sambar(okra & brinjal), 21 Athirasam/nippatlu, 21 Vada, 21 Soyyam/sugilu, Rice Payasam(i made it for my husband). After done cooking, we make Kedhara Gowri with turmeric and little bit water place the Gowri devi in nadu veedu (decorate the gauri devi with 2 nose rings and bottu), We place all these infront of god in three banana leaves, then place 21 Pan leaves 21 Vokka 21 Bananas Auspicious thread(nomu dharam){in our house we are 5 members, so we place 5 threads infront of god then tie to ourselves after pooja is done} break the coconut and pr...

DRUMSTICK LEAVES SOUP/ MORINGA SOUP/ MURUNGAI KEERAI SOUP

WE NEED: Moringa leaves- 1 pack Oil- 1 Tbsp Mustard seeds- 1 tsp Cumin- 1 tsp Onion(chopped)- 1/4 Cup Ginger(Crushed)- 1 tsp Garlic(chopped)- 2 pods Water- 3 cups Salt to taste Black pepper powder- 1 Tbsp HOW WE DO IT: Heat oil in a pan, add in mustard and cumin. Add in finely chopped onion, crushed ginger and garlic. Saute until the onions turns transparent. Add in water and salt, let the water starts to boil, add in moringa leaves, Mix well and cook for 5 minutes. Add in black pepper powder and serve. Enjoy the delicious and healthy moringa leaves soup.

Sora Puttu(Tilapia)

WE NEED: Fish(Tilapia)- 3 fillets Water- 3 cups Salt to taste Turmeric powder- 1 Tbsp Red chili powder- 1/2 Tbsp Oil- 4 Tbsp Mustard- 1 tsp Cumin- 1 tsp Green chilies- 5 no Ginger- 2 inch Garlic- 3 pods Onions(finely chopped)- 2 cups HOW WE DO IT: Boil the fish in water, until the water and the fish turns white and frothy. Remove the fish from water let it cool. Once it cools squeeze the fish with both the hands. In the squeezed fish, add in turmeric, red chili powder and required salt. Mix everything together and keep it aside. Take a hot pan add oil, temper first with cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Add Crushed garlic, chopped green chillies and ginger. Saute for 2 minutes, then add in onions, cook well until the onions turns transparent. Now add the marinated squeezed fish, keep on stirring by keeping the stove on medium to simmer, until the masala is well incorporated with fish and cook for 10 minutes. Enjoy the delicious sora puttu with hot rice and onion sambar....
