MATAR PANEER | PANEER GRAVY WITH PEAS

WE NEED:

  • Paneer(cut into bite size pieces)- 6 oz
  • Green peas- 1/2 cup
  • Onions(chopped)- 1 cup
  • Tomatoes(chopped)- 1 cup
  • Ginger(chopped)- 1 Tbsp
  • Garlic- 3 pods
  • Milk- 1/2 cup
  • Cashew nuts- Handful
  • Cloves- 4 no
  • Cinnamon- 1 inch
  • Bay leaf - 2 no
  • Cardamom- 3 no
  • Cumin- 1 Tbsp
  • Kasuri methi- 1 Tbsp
  • Turmeric- 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder/ Paprika- 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste.
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Butter- 2 Tbsp

HOW WE DO IT:

  • Add chopped onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic to the pan, drizzle in some water, close the lid and cook until the tomatoes becomes mushy.

  • Let it cool, then grind cooked onion, tomatoes with cloves, cinnamon, milk and cashew nuts into fine paste.
  • Heat a wide pan, add in butter, bay leaf, cardamom, cumin. Then add in chopped onions, peas, chopped paneer pieces, mix well.

  • Add in red chili powder, coriander powder, salt, turmeric mix again.

  • Now add in the blended masala gravy to the pan, add in some color, mix well close the lid and cook until gravy becomes thick.


  • Finally add in kasuri methi to the gravy mix well and serve with hot CHAPATHI or GHEE RICE. It tastes amazing.
