Hello,
Sakkarai pongal is one of my childhood recipes, even my kids now really love to eat sakkarai pongal when i make it on festivals. I am sharing my super hit recipe for you. Do try it and let me know how it turned out.
- Rice(Sona masoori)- 3/4 cup.
- Split Moong- 1/4 cup.
- Water- 4 cups.
- Cardamom powder- 1/2 tsp.
- Jaggery- 1.5 cup.
- Salt- pinch.
- Cashew nuts- 5 to 6 no.
- Ghee- 3 Tbsp.
PROCEDURE:
- Soak rice and split moong for 20 minutes.
- Pressure cook rice, split moong, little salt and a tablespoon of ghee for 4 to 5 whistles.
- Mean while heat little water and add in jaggery and let it dissolve in water, once the jaggery mixture cools down, filter it to take out the impurities.
- Once the pressure releases, mix the rice and moong dal with jaggery mixture, add in cardamom powder.
- Finally fry the cashew nuts in ghee, add to the sakkarai pongal mixture.
