Puttu(Without puttu maker)

Personal Taste:

           We used to have puttu while we are in hostel. They serve the puttu with boiled channa stir fry(guggullu fry). It really tastes good. Try that once.

Previous Day:

  1. Cook puttu powder in idli cooker by placing the dry cloth on the idli plate. (close the cloth after keeping the powder) for about 40 min.

Next Day:

  1. Take the powder, add little salt and water little by little until the powder holds in the fist.
  2. Cook the powder in the same procedure but in the wet cloth for approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. Wet the hands and check the powder, it should be very soft.
  4. Take the required amount of the puttu, add sugar, grated coconut and ilaichi powder. (I grated the coconut along with ilaichi).
  5. Enjoy the delicious Puttu with milk or banana or the spicy food you may want. 

Note:

  1. I made it with wheat puttu, you can make it with white rice puttu/ Red rice puttu/ Semiya puttu. All of these three are approximately same procedure.
  2. With white rice you have to grind the rice to puttu consistency by soaking the rice and drying it.
  3. Don't grind the coconut with sugar, grind it with cardamom seeds, add sugar while eating.
