Tomato-onion chutney

Ingredients

  • Tomatoes(chopped)- 1 Cup
  • Onions(chopped)- 1 Cup
  • Red chillies- 3 no.
  • Tamarind-  1 inch
  • Ginger- 1 inch
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil- 1 Tbsp
For Tempering
  • Oil- 1 Tbsp
  • Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  • Urad dal- 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves- Hand full
Preparation
  • Heat a pan, add in of oil, then add onions, red chillies, let the onions turn transparent then add little salt, turmeric powder, ginger, tomatoes. 
  • When tomatoes mixture becomes mushy then add tamarind and let it cool for some time. once the mixture cools down. Blend it in a blender. 
  • Heat a pan and temper the items listed in 'for tempering', add this to tomato-onion paste.
