Pappulusu/ Lentil Soup



Ingredients

Lentils- 1 Cup
Onions(Big)- 1
Tomatoes(medium size)- 2
Green Chillies- 2
Tamarind- Lemon sized ball (Keep it in hot water for 5 min to make paste)
Oil- 3tsp


For tempering:

(Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, Urad dal, Curry leaves)- 1 tbsp.
Red Chillies- 2
Hing- a pinch

Turmeric powder- pinch
Red chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

Preparation


Heat Pan or Pressure Cooker add oil and Lentils, Saute it well for 5 min then add Green Chillies, Onions, Turmeric, Red Chilli powder and Coriander powder. Once the onions turns transparent add tomatoes and  then add 2 cups of water and pressure cook it for 4 whistles.


Once the pressure releases mash the lentils finely then add salt and tamarind juice. Cook it for 5 min. In separate pan add oil and things mentioned under 'For Tempering' let it splutter and add it to the lentil mixture. Delicious Pappulusu is ready. Serve it with Steamed rice, it taste fantastic.
