Ingredients
- Tomatoes- 1(small)
- Red chillies- 10(Soak in hot water for 1hour)
- Garlic Cloves- 3/4 cup
- Tamarind- small lemon sized ball
- Raw Coconut- 1/4 cup
- Coriander Seeds- 1/2 tsp
- Cumin Seeds-1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
For Tempering
- Oil- 2 Tbsp
- Mixture of mustard seeds, Urad dal, Chana dal, Cumin seeds - 1 tsp each.
- Curry leaves- Hand full.
Preparation
- Heat a pan, add in oil, coriander and cumin seeds, let it change color. Add in garlic, red chilies, mix and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add raw coconut, tomatoes and turmeric, cook till the tomatoes become soft and mushy.
- Let it cool, add in tamarind and blend it to fine paste.
- Heat the oil in a pan, add in the items listed below "FOR TEMPERING", let the mustard seeds splutter and add this to the Chutney.
- Tasty Garlic Chutney will be ready. It tastes good with rice, dosa or idli.
