Coconut Split peas chutney | Idly Chutney | Senagala Chutney


Ingredients

  • Raw Coconut(chopped)/ Shredded coconut- 1.5 cups
  • Split Peas- 3/4 cup
  • Green Chilies- 2(small)
  • Tamarind- 1 inch
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves- hand full
For Tempering
  • Oil- 1 Tbsp
  • (Mustard seeds, Urad dal, chana dal, cumin seeds) - 1 tsp each.
Preparation
  • Add split peas to the blender grind it to fine powder.
  • Add in green chillies, coconut, tamarind, salt and curry leaves, blend it to a fine paste by adding require amount of water.
  • Heat a pan, add in oil, mustard seeds, cumin, chana dal, urad dal.Let the mustard seeds splutter.
  • Add this seasoning to the blended chutney. 
  • Tasty Coconut Split peas chutney is ready, you can serve this chutney for PONGAL, IDLY, DOSA or any SOUTH INDIAN BREAKFASTS.
